We had our back to school dinner with the theme What-e'er thou art, act well they part. The girls made paper hats, and we discussed the theme - whatever you are, a student, sister, soccer player, cast member, do your part well. We read a little from President Uchdorf's article in the Friend magazine and talked about the work and excellence required to do something well.
My kids LOVE this tradition. It isn't even a huge deal, but somehow it represents a new beginning with a slight celebratory twist.
On the first day of school I made "E"xcellent pancakes to remind them off doing their part well.
