STAR POWER conference

Last week my brothers Mitch and Nate, and I had the privilege of helping out at my dad's last STAR POWER conference in Denver. My dad has created a unique group of the top realtors (STARS) in the country who gather annually to share their best practices with others wanting to improve their realty business. I hadn't been to one of his conferences in over 15 years. We stepped into immediate popularity because of our relation to our dad. We worked the sales table which gave us the opportunity to meet a lot of attendees. Countless people told us of how my dad had changed their lives. We had a blast. It was so fun spending time with my brothers, especially promoting our dad's products. It was inspiring to see what our dad had created during his career, and his influence on so many people. Watching him on stage is always a treat.

The girls came to the opening and closing to see their grandpa in action. After the opening Tennie exclaimed, "It is like grandpa is a king! We get to sit on the front row....we got a name badge....we got a bag...." They were feeling the popularity, too.

My dad told us that he was going to call us up on stage during the closing after showing some pictures of us as kids. My brother Mitch suggested we plan a little "surprise" so we began scheming what we could do on stage. When my dad called us up on stage he was expecting us to come from the front rows of the audience. He started scanning the crowd as seconds passed. The 1200+ crowd was already giving us a standing ovation (they loved us because of our dad) when we came on stage from behind. The crowd began to laugh and cheer which made our dad, in confusion, turn to see what was going on. Each of us came on stage as our dad in different garb, all images from familiar stories he tells about himself. All of us had a moustache. Mitch gave a few remarks that teased my dad and then I presented him with a t-shirt my sister-and-laws JoAnn and Kim and I created the night before. My dad loved it. It was a magical week.
Geoff held down the fort at home while I was gone for four days. The girls and Geoff found an American-Indian grounding stone while exploring my dad's property. They also discovered what poison-ivy looks like and feels like.

This wrapped up our great times in Colorado.
