Jamestown, VA

Our last day on this adventure was in Jamestown.  This is really where the history in our trip began, but we hit it last.  We had read some books and watched some documentaries about Pocahontas and her people, as well as the struggles of settling Jamestown.  We were all surprised to see just how crude it was.  What adventurers these early people were!

We visited the village of the Powhatan people.

The last stop was the site of the final battle of the Revolutionary War: Yorktown.  The little historic town was so quaint, a perfect seaside village.  The fields of the battle were solemn.  This victorious battle not only changed our history forever, but the history of the world.

Not all of us felt the solemness...

We drove back to D.C., spent the night and flew back to California early the next morning.  A great and memorable trip.
