Howard Jones Brinton, 72, a loving husband, father,
grandfather, and friend, passed from this life on December 26 at his home in
Draper, Utah.
Howard was born in Sandy, Utah, on March 15, 1940, to Clark
and Cumorah Brinton and was known as one of the “Brinton boys”. He graduated from Jordan High School in
1958. He attended Dixie College
where he was an All-Conference football player. He finished his degree at USC
in physical therapy in 1964.
His early career included insurance and real estate sales.
Within a few years after stepping in for a friend to teach a real estate class,
he became one of the most sought after instructors in the GRI and CRS organizations.
His lasting legacy was founding STAR POWER, arguably the most powerful training
organization in the real estate industry. To be interviewed by Howard as one of
his “Stars” was the highest honor in the industry, and his unique ability to
bring the best out of each of them and share it with others completely
transformed the careers of thousands of Realtors across the United States. His
unique ability to inspire, entertain, motivate, tell stories, and create connections
made him the Star of the Stars. His optimism was contagious, and his wisdom and
wit will be missed by his many friends and colleagues. He loved his Star Power family.
Howard will be most remembered for his gourmet cooking, his
invitation to a competitive game of Hearts or sure-to-lose game of backgammon, his
athletic prowess, his love of golf and the Broncos, his happy singing and whistling,
his gift to make people laugh and find humor in ordinary situations, his
legendary story-telling ability, and his knack for making anyone who crossed
his path want to be a better person.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Burk Brinton; three children:
Mitch (Joann) Brinton, Nate (Kim) Brinton, and Darcie (Geoff) Davis; five
grandchildren whom he adored; and four of five beloved brothers and their
families. We will deeply miss him and
look forward to a happy reunion in the next life when we’re together again.
His family wishes to thank a very special nephew, Robert
Brinton, for his unending love and devotion to Howard. The family would also like to thank Dr.
Neeraj Agarwal, Julia Betten, and the wonderful, caring staff at the Huntsman
Cancer Institute. Their support
was a strong key in helping him fight with dignity.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 4, at
2:00 PM in the Draper Stake Center, 1450 East Raddon Drive, Sandy, Utah. In
lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Huntsman
Cancer Institute.

Of all the photos we have of Dad, this one is my favorite. In the kitchen, smiling, happy, warm and inviting eyes. Baseball cap. I picture myself on the other end of the bar, eating some of his famous quiche, getting ready for a game of hearts, and then 18 holes mid-morning. God speed, Pops!
