Pets

We left our dog Kipper with Geoff's parents for the year and the girls and Geoff miss him terribly. But we aren't without a few pets to dote on here. Our neighbors who live upstairs have a dog and cat who love the girls.

This isn't a great shot of Phebe but it will do...
Charlotte's favorite napping spot is in this basket on the outdoor dining table overlooking the sea. She is very social and friendly and paid Geoff's sister Emily a surprise visit in the downstairs bathroom in the middle of the night when she was here.

I have no idea what the real name of this dog is but it is something that sounds like D-ahms. He lives on the other side of a chain-link fence running alongside our 100 stairs. He greets us almost every time we are coming or going.

We have three big turtles that live behind the fence in the backyard that have a whole yard of their own that most of us would envy! And then there is a big toad that comes out on our stairs when it rains.

And lastly, Adele earned a fish for finishing the first level of French. She and Geoff went to the fish store to buy a goldfish and came back with this beauty named "Poocha".

She looks beautiful and graceful, and she is, but if you put other fish in the same bowl she'll eat them. In the morning she swims around looking right at you looking like she is totally impatient. To show her disgust for having to wait to be fed she snaps the food loud enough that you can hear it! Adele is diligent in feeding her and tolerating her attitude, but she doesn't like to clean the fish bowl. She paid me 50 cents to clean it for her last week. She is hoping to prove her responsibility in hopes of a bunny and eventually a horse. She'll have to pay me a lot more than 50 cents to clean out a rabbit cage or horse stable...

Coming from 10 years of bunny "doo"ty...It's just way easier to "fix" the bunny and then house train it. But they are wonderful pets...like a cat, but a different kind of allergine. We loved our bunny, who just passed away at the end of February. He lived to be 10 years old, so a long term commitment.
