Flu Blues

All three of the girls have a nasty flu. Luckily it isn't the vomiting sort, but it is still very miserable. They are all too uncomfortable to do anything (read, draw, etc.) and yet complain of boredom. They are all starving, but nothing sounds good. They are all achy and want others to know. They all want an adult at their side every minute.

Yesterday we set up camp downstairs. I read a lot, they listened to books on tape, and when they felt up to it they looked through books and magazines. The only time they got up was to go to the bathroom.

Today, day three, there is a little improvement, but they are still laying low. Ceci has been begging us to teach her to read for months and months. We are trying to put it off until she is a little older, ideally 8 (although I knew she wouldn't make it until then). Well, a few days ago she got out the Bob early reading books and started to read. She needed help with a few sounds, but she was determined. Here she is reading to Geoff for the first time today. Applause and hoopla all around. Wahoo Ceci!!!

Hopefully in a day or two we'll be back on our feet. But for now we're still experiencing the Flu Blues!
