Bees

One of Adele's little friend's grandpa has bees and he invited us over to explore his hives. Only Tennie and I put on the bee suits and got close enough to see inside. The Magic School Bus book on bees gave us a good overview of what we were seeing, and then we learned that he gets 30-40 pounds of honey per hive per year! Wow! He also let us taste a little beeswax, and showed us how he melts it down to make salves and lip balms, etc. What a cool operation. Maybe some day having a hive would be a cool thing to try out...
