Hike

Yesterday we went on a beautiful hike, and then stopped for dinner in the late evening in the perched village Gorbio. It was a perfect day.

Tennie made a BIG wish!

At the beginning of the hike we passed some old rock walls - quintessential French countryside. They are such a resourceful people.

There were incredible wildflowers everywhere...

and so many bugs to meet.

Ceci named this temporary pet Zebra Rolypoly

There were amazing views of the sea...

and breathtaking mountains. (If you click this image you can see St. Agnes, the highest perched village in Europe, on the pointed peak.)

At the top of the mountain we found where all the parachuters jump from. We were just in time to watch this guy run and catch the little wind there was and glide off the mountain.

There he goes! Unfortunately his lady friend is blocking most of him.

That is Monaco in the background, with dozens of yachts in the harbor for the Grand Prix this weekend. All roads are closed in Monaco for five days. From the top of the mountain we could hear the engines roaring in the preliminary races.

Ceci was our nature guide on the way down. Tennie found a "parasol".

This is a picture of Gorbio from above. We usually see it from below as we pass by on the freeway.

Gorbio is a friendly little town with a long history and several great squares where people gather.

We had delicious pizza and Oranginas in the main town square before heading home, and we had no trouble at all falling asleep!
