A few doors down there is a boutique hotel that rescues abandoned monkeys. The are raised by the hotel staff who are trained how to care for them, and then when the monkeys are about three years old they often go off in the wild on their own. Just last week one saw a "mate" and joined it to live in the wild.
One particular monkey is extremely friendly. His name is Georgio.
As you can imagine, the girls are elated to have made such a friend! He sucks their fingers or climbs up their clothes and hops on their shoulders.
Here is a little 3-month-old howler monkey, not quite as friendly but equally as cute!

Georgio sneakily went over the the sugar bowl, lifted the lid while looking around, grabbed a handful of sugar, then ran off to enjoy...twice.

oh my gosh, what a dream come true for the girls!first the parrots and now a monkey. my brother and his wife had lots of monkey pictures from down there, although amber seemed less at ease with them than your kids do :)
