Aosta's old Roman squareWe stopped to tour a castle and on the way we found a super fun park for the kids.
It had huge rocks and paths for climbing...
and a zip-line that they couldn't get enough of.
Late in the evening we stopped in a small town and after driving around finally found a pizzeria. Geoff and I ordered a fresh salad with avocado. The waitress came back and told us there weren't any avocados in the "chicken" (that was her English word for kitchen) because they weren't in season. (?) The kids were melting down from exhaustion the entire meal. When it was time to pay the owners said they didn't take credit cards even though it had several listed on the door. While Ian and Geoff went searching for a bank, getting delayed due to a very long train crossing, Jamison had a very messy diaper and needed a change of clothes, which were in the other car. Finally, as we finally got on the road Emily was pulled over by the Italian police who told her that in Italy they drive with their lights on (at least that is what they think he said because he pointed to the headlights using a sarcastic voice and she indeed didn't have her lights on.) Two hours later, past midnight, we dragged ourselves down the 100 stairs and fell into bed.
