Bryce Canyon

While Tennie was off discovering the marine world, Geoff, Adele, Ceci and I set off to explore Bryce Canyon.  We camped for two days and marveled at yet another display of God's creativity.  

I tried to weed some pictures out but the scenery is too beautiful to not share...

On the way...

We got there in the evening and took a peek at the views.

The next morning we all woke up and went on an early morning hike - good thing because it was pretty toasty by 8:00.

The hike took us down to the bottom of the canyon.

The pillar on the left looks exactly like a statue in London of Queen Victoria and so bears her name

Later that afternoon at the visitor's center a few rangers had some telescopes that allowed us to look directly at the sun.  We could see the little fire strands shooting from the surface.  Later that night we attended a ranger talk on the night sky and then looked through some huge telescopes where we saw Saturn with it's rings (it looked like those glow in the dark stickers of Saturn) and a cluster of 100,000 stars.  It was incredible!

We went on a bike ride just outside of the park.  It was one of those outings where the energy required exceeded the fun.  But we were still glad to go.  The girls had more fun zipping around our campground.

We stopped at a Western facade tourist destination.

And camping wouldn't be complete without s'mores, although we had them early so as not to give up our star-gazing.

From here we were off to the Garn reunion.  The drive was amazing.  Utah is full of surprises.
