Just Keep Swimming
Hey parents, this is Sara and Caden, LODs for the day. Katie, Abby, and Tennie decided to take that extra step in self relaxation and wake up at six-thirty for yoga. The rest of us started our last full day in San Salvador with a yummy breakfast of french toast and bacon. After breakfast, we got for our last snorkel in the Bahamas. :( . We were able to split up and self guide ourselves again, which gave us more freedom. Sara, Alex, and Kaylin spotted a Southern Stingray within the first twenty minutes. While most of the group was observing the stingray, Joaquin, Oliver, and Miles were using a stick, a piece of twine, and a fishhook in an unsuccessful attempt to catch a fish for us to dissect for science. As we were heading towards shore, we spotted and picked up multiple pieces of trash on the reef and the ocean floor, which made us think about how much humans affect the ocean. We then headed back to Gerace for a delicious lunch that consisted of chicken patties, fries and fruit. After lunch, we did a small lesson where we talked about the 3 certificates we are receiving: AWARE Coral Reef Conservation, Project AWARE, PADI Snorkelling and Skin Diving. We all answered some questions about reefs and passed a small quiz. As soon as we finished the quiz, we went to Sue Point for a final free swim in the San Salvadorian ocean. Ginger and Sara created their own oceanic spa after the whole group participated in a giant boys vs. girls sand war. Everyone was very melancholy after leaving the beautiful waters.
As soon as we got back from the beach, everyone made their way to a scrumptious dinner of beef, rice, and of course, cake! During the time when the group was able to clean, Jesse interviewed a few of us individually on our Bahama adventure. After everybody had cleaned their room, we walked down to the snack bar for candy bars and popcorn. The next forty-five minutes were spent on the beach, where Caden, Abby, Ginger, and Tennie took amazing pictures on the beach. After that small amount of beach time, we went to the Conference Room for the mesmerizing film on the Deep Sea. It was an amazing last day in San Salvador. After this trip, we are going to keep on swimming and explore new opportunities in our lives. JUST KEEP SWIMMING!!!
